“Command Every Step.”
Powerful. Assertive. Designed for leaders.
Lagos: The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has initiated significant upgrades to the security infrastructure at the nation’s airports, aligning with the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS). A key component of this enhancement is the deployment of advanced screening technologies, notably the Orion 927DX scanners, at major international airports.
These state-of-the-art scanners are designed to detect a wide range of prohibited items, including explosives and narcotics, in real time during the scanning process by marking potential threats on the X-ray image. This technological advancement eliminates the need for physical luggage searches, thereby streamlining security procedures and improving passenger experience. The implementation of these scanners has led to the removal of manual search tables, addressing previous concerns about delays and passenger inconvenience.
In addition to technological upgrades, FAAN has focused on capacity building by training Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel to effectively operate the new equipment. This comprehensive approach aims to enhance the overall security framework and operational efficiency at Nigeria’s airports.
These developments reflect FAAN’s commitment to adopting modern technologies and best practices to ensure the safety and satisfaction of air travelers, positioning Nigeria’s airports to meet international standards and improve the nation’s aviation security landscape.
