|Published 9:30 AM ET, Wednesday April 02, 2025|
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has publicly accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of orchestrating a plot to assassinate her. Addressing her supporters in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, she alleged that Mr. Akpabio instructed Mr. Bello to carry out the assassination within Kogi to make it appear as a local incident. She further claimed that funds were exchanged to facilitate her recall from the Senate and that she has reported these allegations to the Inspector General of Police.
In response, Kogi State’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, denied these allegations, stating that there was no discussion between the involved parties regarding any plan to recall or harm Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.

These developments occur amid heightened political tensions in Kogi State, following Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent suspension from the Senate. She asserts that her suspension is linked to her accusations of sexual harassment against Mr. Akpabio.
Given the gravity of these allegations, it is imperative for law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure the safety of all individuals involved and uphold the integrity of the political process.
