Harare: Zimbabwe has been experiencing a wave of protests against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, with dozens of people charged for participating in these demonstrations. The protests are largely fueled by economic hardships and Mnangagwa’s plans to extend his rule until 2030.

The government has responded to the protests with force, deploying police to block demonstrations and arresting protesters. In one incident, police threw teargas to disperse a small group of protesters chanting “we reject 2030!”.

The opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been at the forefront of the protests, with its activists notifying the police of their intentions to stage protests. However, the government has denied the CCC’s claims of police brutality and instead accused the opposition of trying to destabilize the country.

The situation in Zimbabwe remains tense, with many fearing that the government’s heavy-handed response to the protests could lead to further violence and instability.
