Abuja: On February 28, 2025, President Bola Tinubu hosted Nigerian-born NFL champion Morotoluwa “Moro” Ojomo at the State House in Abuja. Ojomo, a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, recently celebrated a Super Bowl victory with his team.
Born in Lagos, Ojomo moved to the United States at age seven. During the meeting, President Tinubu praised Ojomo’s perseverance and highlighted the importance of engaging with Nigerian talents abroad to support national development, particularly in sports. He noted that with Ojomo’s focus, he could mentor many youths in Nigeria and contribute to their development.
Ojomo expressed his desire to give back to his homeland by announcing plans to establish a sports academy in Nigeria. This initiative aims to empower young athletes and create opportunities for Nigerian youth to excel in sports.
The visit underscores the Nigerian government’s commitment to strengthening ties with professionals in the diaspora, aiming to leverage their expertise for the nation’s growth and development.
