Official Statement from the Liberal Progressive & Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC)

LPPMC National Coordinator, Dr. Kingsley Okundaye
|Published 9:30 AM ET, Wednesday April 16, 2025|
To Members of LPPMC, the Labour Party, the Obidient Movement, and the General Public:
We write to formally inform and explain to you that the group formerly known as the Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC) has undergone a significant transformation and will now be known as the Liberal Progressive & Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC). This change reflects our commitment to upholding the foundational principles that have guided us over the years.
The decision to have a broad-based political affiliation was taken in order to ensure that the principles and ideals that the LPPMC represents are adhered to and the need to preserve the reputation and integrity that the LPPMC has built over the years is respected as sacrosanct.
Our new name, Liberal Progressive & Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC), encapsulates our core values:
Liberal: A commitment to individual freedoms, civil rights, and social justice.
Progressive: A dedication to social reform, innovation, and addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Patriotic: A love for Nigeria and a responsibility to uphold its democratic ideals.
Members: A recognition of the strength found in diversity, unity, and collective action.
Congress: A commitment to democratic principles, transparency, and accountability.
The LPPMC will now operate as an independent entity, partnering only with groups, parties, or individuals whose values and ideals align with ours.
We remain open to collaborating with the Labour Party, but only if it returns to the principles that once made it a beacon of hope for Nigerians.
Our principles are non-negotiable, and we will not bend them to accommodate anyone. As the National Coordinator, Dr. Kingsley Okundaye stated recently in a press briefing that the LPPMC is committed to fostering a society that is equitable, innovative, and united in its pursuit of the common good.
We urge all members, supporters, and the general public to continue standing with us as we embark on this new chapter. Together, we will work to create a Nigeria that reflects our shared vision of freedom, progress, and patriotism.
Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to the ideals we hold dear.
Sincerely,
Eld. Yusuf Solomon Danbaki
National Secretary, LPPMC
