Centurion, South Africa — The bodies of three missing South African Police Service (SAPS) officers were discovered on Monday in the Hennops River near Centurion, six days after they vanished while traveling from Bloemfontein to Limpopo.

The deceased officers — Constables Boipelo Senoge (20), Cebekhulu Linda (24), and Keamogetswe Buys (30)—were last seen at a petrol station near the Grasmere Toll Plaza along the N1 highway on April 23. A nationwide search effort involving multiple police units culminated in the grim discovery.

Two additional bodies were also found in the river, one identified as a police administrative clerk from the Lyttelton Police Station. Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the fifth victim.

Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola stated that while parts of the officers’ vehicle, a VW Polo, were recovered nearby, the car itself remains missing. Investigators have not ruled out foul play as the cause of death and are awaiting autopsy results.

The tragedy has sparked national mourning, with SAPS offering a R350,000 reward for information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
