Accra: President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has indicated that the West African country aims to implement a policy giving visa-free entrance to all African travelers by the end of 2024.
During the 2024 Africa Prosperity Dialogue in Ghana’s Eastern Region, Akufo-Addo made a pledge that is consistent with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This pledge seeks to create a single market across the continent, promoting economic growth, creating job opportunities, and alleviating poverty.
The government of Ghana is fully dedicated to the objective of enabling visa-free access for all African visitors to the country, stated Akufo-Addo, stressing the importance of such measures across the entire continent to facilitate the unrestricted mobility of individuals, goods, and services, leveraging trade as a driving force for Africa’s economic progress.
President Akufo-Addo recommended a more inclusive approach to the implementation of AfCFTA, assuring equitable benefits for all elements of African society.
The biennial Africa Prosperity Dialogue, organized by the AfCFTA Secretariat and the African Prosperity Network, a think tank, brings together African leaders to collaborate, form alliances, and commit to achieving the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
