N’Djamena, Chad — The Government of Chad has announced the immediate closure of its border with Nigeria, citing heightened security concerns following reports of alleged U.S. military intervention plans linked to ongoing violence against Christians in northern Nigeria.

According to government sources, the decision was made in anticipation of potential mass movements of extremist groups attempting to cross into Chadian territory amid fears of a possible U.S.-led military strike. The measure aims to prevent infiltration by terrorists who may seek to flee Nigeria’s conflict zones should any foreign military operations commence.

The Chadian Ministry of Defense emphasized that the closure is a temporary but necessary security measure, urging citizens and travelers to comply with new border control directives while intelligence and military operations continue to monitor regional developments.

Regional observers view Chad’s action as part of a broader West African security recalibration, with growing concern over the implications of external intervention on the fragile balance between national sovereignty and humanitarian protection in the region.

As of press time, neither the U.S. Department of Defense nor the Nigerian authorities had issued an official response to the reports of impending military action.
